Mr. Tang is a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Butterfly and is a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee. In this role, Mr. Tang oversees all aspects of the Firm’s financial activities, including fund operations, reporting, compliance and capital management, and leads certain strategic and growth initiatives of the Firm.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Tang was one of the first members of Butterfly’s investment team and played a key role in several of the Firm’s investments, including Pete and Gerry’s Organics, Generous Brands, Bolthouse Fresh Foods and Pacifico Aquaculture. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Butterfly Equity Foundation.
Before joining Butterfly, Mr. Tang worked at KKR alongside Mr. Waglay, Mr. Patel and Mr. Prelle as a member of the Consumer Retail Private Equity team, where he was involved in multiple investments across the food and consumer sectors. Previously, Mr. Tang worked at Moelis & Company, where he participated in a variety of mergers, acquisitions and restructuring transactions, including several in the food industry.
Mr. Tang holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honors Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
